stupid insurance
Discussion
So i have a new policy for a month, then i get a nice letter.
Your policy is being cancelled due to me lying on the quote, (can't remember exact term).
Nice, the letter is dated 3 days ago arrived on the weekend, so have 2 days to sort the mess out, and considering it took me 3 weeks and 5 phones calls to get a copy of my no claims proof, hold as much hope as England winning the world cup again.
So i ring them up and it seems some database has wrong information on it regarding a non fault accident, that is now showing as fault against me.
instead of the lazy insurance just ringing the company up, i have got to do it 'because computer says no.'
So it seems i know could end up with an indefinite 'insurance cancelled' strike against me, as i now lost faith, as ever time i deal with them, i come away feeling sick.
Once this is sorted they can stick the policy up there arse, i just wish there was other options, than getting the feeling of being molested anytime you have to more than pay them.

One phonecall to your old insurer seems far easier long term.
Agreed you need to sort the issue at source or this will rear its head again. It's not your current insurers fault they are just doing their job and well by the sounds of it. Kick your previous insurers arse, get a letter confirming the error do you have a record and then bill them for your time and aggravation ( good luck with this bit I'd do it just to cause them a bit of hassle - this from an ex insurance bloke).well it seems the insurer who the fault was with,, has decided unbeknownst to me, as they have failed to recover costs, changed it to my fault. What a crock of s
t.
they had originally said no claims was not effected, and blame on other insurance.
the accident was as a named driver on another policy.

What's normal here? If you claim, how do you know whether it ends up being a fault claim or not?
Bert
in that accident i didn't claim, the other car was written off, the car i used light graze.Bert
the other party ran up a big bill. the funny thing the police offered the other party driver awareness course, but insurance ere looking at 50/50

Wont 50/50 be classed as 'at fault'? I cant remember ever having seen a 50/50 option when obtaining quotes. When I had an accident that was settled 50/50, I always declared it as 'at fault'.
If your own insurance pays out (any percentage) then its classed as "at fault".Its only non fault if your own insurance recovers 100% of costs.
the no claims was unaffected,, it seems it hinges on not recovering the money they paid out with no prejudice, i think the term is, as the other party was running bills up.
The policy holder had a phone call to say the no claims were kept, which i took claim is over in my favor, which now seems in hindsight wrong.
I have ended up in a mess now as the policy is cancelled and straightaway adds 150 quid to new quotes for eternity, and I have to use specialist insurers, which is a pain, all over an honest mistake.
My only recourse is to complain to the FO i think. It is funny thou I am a higher risk for 2 non fault claims..

Did you protect your NCD? That's the only way they'll remain unaffected by a claim that's either partial or full fault. The policy holder had a phone call to say the no claims were kept, which i took claim is over in my favor, which now seems in hindsight wrong.

Why is it "two non fault claims"? I thought you said this one was 50/50
The FOS has no jurisdiction over assessing fault in a claim.
This story is highly confusing.

No the ncd were not protected as far as I know. Why is it "two non fault claims"? I thought you said this one was 50/50

I mentioned the other accident as a moan really, that was a non fault but more clear cut in indurances eyes.
The reason I am going to complian as this process has been confusing, like I said earlier when they said no claims was not effected I thiught the clam was over but it seems not.
The thing that makes it worse is one insurer is saying fault and the other non fault and I am stuck in the middle. I have 1 more day to sort this out

I need to declare a "refused/cancelled" event that took place in about 1985.
I don't mince my words now, as it was due to the utter incompetence and pig headedness of a broker. I declared everything, but it turned out the insurer didn't cover employees of my employer. Had the broker done the sensible thing, they'd have got me back before the start date and arranged cover with an insurer who was ok with my employer. But no, they argued and the policy started (I think they were an agent or similar, I've not gone into it).
The broker eventually conceded defeat, so I had an insurer cancel after about a month.
