Number plate transfer

Trying to work out the order I have to do this>>

My Mum has bought an MX5 that has a private plate she doesn't want as she has her own plate and has kindly offered it to me for free.....

Ok, Her private plate is on her Renault Kangoo. Kangoo needs to end up on a standard plate......sorry for mentioning a Kangoo on here
Her private plate needs to be transferred from the Kangoo to her new MX5.
MX5 private plate needs to end up on my car.

Can this be done simultaneously or is there an order I need to do this in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easy enough. Just download and pay for (£80 i think) the forms needed to transfer it to you, the nominee.

Thanks for the reply David,
I've looked at that site and it seems simple enough if you have one vehicle but I can't work out if the transfer process is done in one go across the three vehicles. What I'm trying to avoid is a car being off the road.

Firstly ignore the fact the car has a private plate on it if you don't wish to keep it, it will just be removed.

Put the MX-5 in her name and get a V5C for it.

Retain the plate £80 she does want (car will be allocated age related plate and) you will get in the post a new V5C so you can sell the car and the number plate on a V778 retention certificate.

When you have retention and V5C for MX-5 in your mum's name simply put the two together https://www.gov.uk/put-registration-number-vehicle


Or you can transfer it all the old fashioned way by using a V317 form and posting it all to Swansea and sitting there and wait, want wait etc etc.
