Land registry, property transfer, stamp duty etc query
Discussion
You do need to speak to a solicitor; while in theory you could do it yourself, the Land Registry won't accept submission of a transfer from someone unrepresented except with appropriate evidence of ID for all parties, which basically requires a solicitor certifying photo ID.
Anyway, the form is a TR1, you will almost certainly need to submit an SDLT return even if no stamp duty is actually payable, and you really ought to get insured advice to confirm these things for your specific transaction.

Sadly not as wealthy as those car journos who all seem to have Porsches
It should be a couple of hundred quid or so in fees; not the sort of job that keeps me in BMWs. This sort of thing is a pain for lawyers to be honest; the liability for giving advice is potentially half the value of the house yet the fees you can charge are tiny.
