Hello,

I just had a general question, as you approach the Dartford tunnel from the m25 anti clockwise, the speed limit changes to 60mph and then to 50mph just before the tunnel which is enforced by average speed cameras. However the gantry with the average the speed cameras may display a different limit e.g 40mph. My question is which speed limit would be enforced by the average speed cameras. The normal speed limit or the limit displayed by the gantry. I slow down to comply and I normally have lorries tailgating me.

Many thanks

How is a driver supposed not to exceed the average speed between two signs showing different maximums?

No, the SPECS will enforce the original limit, not the VSL. If there are any fixed gantry cameras (which there aren't at that location) they will enforce the VSL.
