8 Points In One Go For Crossing White Lines !
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking for some advice
I've just got back from court and I've been given 8 points for crossing a solid white line while overtaking twice within 10 minute ... big fine too.
The guy behind me had dash cam footage which he handed into the police.
I was just wondering if anyone has previous experience in these matters? I thinking of appealing as it seems harsh to me.
I was driving an Aston Vantage if that matters.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ah yes the points vary depending on the car. It's a well known fact. ( from the Internet)
So when I was caught doing a similar thing in my lada riva the judge awarded me a free tank of petrol and a new air freshener. Sympathy or sheer amazement that Boris the riva had got to 44 mph I think. Think yourself lucky you weren't in a luxury v8 petrol barge costing around 50 k. The consequences could have been far worse.
Apart from the fuel economy and depreciation.

Were you driving like a prat? I'm guessing you must have been for the guy to report you. I'm surprised I haven't been dobed in yet.
The courts I believe take white line crossing seriously as they should. I suggest a good solicitor who specialises in traffic infringement he may be able to get it to one offence .......

Wasn't there a piece on here a few weeks ago where the police refused to take it further when a person handed over dash cam footage of an event???
The law needs to change i feel as theres a lot of police wannabes about now filming s
t then uploading to youtube.
Was the dash cam grass's camera government approved ??? was the time, date and speed reading calibrated?? how can it be used as evidence in this case?
scary times are coming if this is allowed to happen.
I have a "behind the mirror camera" and its for my protection and if/when the time comes it will be a useful tool i hope.

I wonder if the fact that you did it twice in short succession was the reason for such a large penalty? Would it not imply a habitual action rather than a silly one off?
I don't know if the type of car is relevant but it may have been part of what helped inspire the other car to report it to the police?

He crossed a solid white line, twice, keep up at the back. It wasn't speeding.
