I got 4 letters to my address from a large Insurance company - exact address and postcode but a name unknown to me.

Letters were asking for details for the policy to be provided and got to the stage when due to incorrect details (my reporting wrong address?) the insurance was rejected.

The company tell me that they have the registration number and have also e mailed the 4 letters to the e mail address with no reply...they also were worried about payment details supplied by the applicant.

They cannot get RK/driver details from DVLA as I suggested, and cannot give me any further information.

Any thoughts on how this scam might have been thought up?

My thought is, is that it's probably someone who's setup a DD to pay for insurance, got a certificate, and then cancelled the DD, all using a fake address to (possibly) deny all knowledge of the letters.
