Received a spam e-mail today supposedly from Lancashire police about an invoice to be paid.
Haven't been to Lancashire in over ten years.
Thoughts.

If you are not expecting it then do not open the attachment, if it might be real ring them before you open the attachment.

If PH hadn't been invented, what would your instinct say OP?

Correct, it's a scam. Leave well alone i.e. delete and forget.

Is it safe to ignore any NIPs that are received from Lancashire Police on this basis?

I received it as well. As I haven't been to Lancs for years and don't do business with them I knew it was a scam/hoax.

Presumably some people get caught by emails like this but quite simply if you've had no dealings with the supposed sender it must be a scam.

Hahah I saw our spamfilter filtered out a Lancs Police email in the logs to an old email ad

I panicked for a second, googled it and saw spam!
