Car parked ... Someone reversed into it,
Discussion
So someone has a reversed into my car whilst it was parked in the local town. Wouldn't have known but luckily some kind person left a note on my windscreen letting me know they saw the car do it , and gave me the rev no and kind of car .
My front bumper is scratched in 3 places and possibly has been moved ( 2015 5 series)
Realistically is there anything I can do about this or is it just one of those things I'll have to live with ?

unless the person who gave you the reg is prepared to act as a witness, the police will not be interested.
However insurance companies are often a lot less fussy.
If your intention would be to claim on your insurance regardless if it will go as a claim against you, then call your insurer, if the repair cost would not justify paying the excess and the future increases from having an at fault claim, then your best option is probably to just get it fixed yourself, however you may be able to get the 3rd party's insurance details from the askmid website. You could contact the 3rd party directly and attempt to make a claim, if the owner admits it to them, then they'll pay up.

Or you could ring your insurer amd let them deal with it, as that's why you pay them your premium. Recovering money for these is a bit time consuming for us and does take a while to get the right result, but we normally do. Of course you could just give up based on one answer that isn't that accurate from one previous poster on here.

Just checked the car and it's basically the paint has been scratched down to the pu on the sharp edge under the headlight and another scrape lower down . Probably get it painted for less than any potential insurance claim / excess might cost
Of the Mercedes was D4 EVD
Then that's your call. You chose your excess level, you decided that was a level of damage that you'd be happy to pay for yourself, so effectively self insured it. Of the Mercedes was D4 EVD
