converting licence, what start date for insurance?

Mrs. Hairy has exchanged her aussie licence for a UK one, surely the "how long have you had your licence" relates to her original issue not when the UK one was stamped?

Getting some conflicting info, and with 0 NCD new driver or 13 years makes a bit of difference...

Do they let you do that now? I had to sit a UK test. All the insurance (etc) questions I've been asked relate to how long I've held a UK licence, or when did you pass your UK test?

Might seem a bit daft but what is the question the insurance company are asking? If the question is "how long have you held a full driving licence?" then I would say it is the date your wife passed her test. If it ask "how long have have you held a UK driving licence?" then see what date is put on the UK licence.

Had a similar situation with the other half who swapped her Italian licence for a UK one and our insurance company chose the number of years she'd held a driving licence. Worth checking with your insurer though...

The date you obtained your licence is on the back of the licence. It will be the date when the your first licence was passed, not the date when you exchanged your licence.

Three of my cars all have insurance renewals at this time of year.

They've all had similar questions. How long have you had a full licence? Is it a UK licence? How long have you been resident in the UK?
