Fault with dehumidifier.
Discussion
Evening all, between 2-3 yrs ago i bought a Logik dehumidifier, a few weeks ago it packed up. I went back to Currys to see if there was anything that can be done, the smug git that is the assistant manager asked if id taken out the extended warranty which i replied that i hadn't, he then just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. I contact customer services and after a few frustrating calls i speak to a helpful, friendly chap who spoke about the sales of goods act,as the product is less than 6years old it would be replaced, but ill need the receipt, and i can't find it. Curry won't budge but i can't see the problem as its a product that is sold just by them. Any ideas as to what to do next?? its still a current model so i can't see why they can't just swap it.

If it's faulty and you know a rough date when you bought it then thats enough for most retailers.
Explain the second paragraph here if i'm wrong

You still need some form of proof that you bought the item from the retailer - i.e. a credit card receipt or bank statement. Just a date of purchase isn't enough as it doesn't prove it was you that bought it on that date - it could have been someone else.Explain the second paragraph here if i'm wrong

buy a new one
And buy a pair of shoes.Wear the shoes.
Keep the box.
Put the receipt for the dehumidifier in the box, and put all future receipts for electrical items and the like inside it.
To give a real example, last year my TV broke. It was from Currys. It was 3 years old. I called them, mentioned the SoGA and they repaired it for free. All I had to tell them was the receipt number, which I had.

As above, the onus is on you now to prove that the item has a manufacturing defect, if they don't play ball you'll need to be prepared to take them to court.
Recently had this with John Lewis of all companies - absolutely not interested in a 16 month old product (that had only been used for a few months) unless I could prove the defect was present at the time of manufacture. I contacted the manufacturer direct and they agreed unhesitatingly to collect it and repair it, which they did.
SoGA (or whatever the new version is called) apparently gives you all sorts of "rights", but enforcing them is a different matter.

Rather than a shoebox I use an A-Z Concertina file but that did mean spending some money.

So you now know that these things can be bought all over the place so Currys are not being unreasonable in asking for POP, are they?Is it really worth all this effort over such a trivial thing?
