Redspeed Speed Curb camera on Salthouse Road in Barrow in Furness.
It will get fixed very soon - it is one of Cumbria "Safety" Cameras top earners.
Curiously, the Cumbria Safety Camera Partnership have no idea if or why a camera is faulty or not, as maintenance records are kept by the manufacturers, not the CSCP, thus rendering them unavailable in an FOI request.

It's a shame you had to spoil a reasonable post with something you made up. Where did you get that from?Redspeed Speed Curb camera on Salthouse Road in Barrow in Furness.

In Barrow, at one of the most well-known speed cameras in the area, in Salthouse Road, there were 1,921 drivers caught – or almost 47 each month.
Between them these two cameras alone could have netted in the region of £1.25m in fines.
The other camera is the one at Ings on the A591.Between them these two cameras alone could have netted in the region of £1.25m in fines.
To be fair to the News and Star, they don't have THAT many to choose from, and yet they are all raising enough money to pay for their upkeep, and the wages of the CSCP staff!

so 1,921 at £100 each is £192,100. that's only a fraction of £M1.25 or have I counted that up wrong?
Since they were installed rather than per annum?Mill Wheel said:

Oh yes, 41 months. I could do that in 4 days with a mobile unit. Nowhere near a "top earner" I'm afraid. Just shows what nonsense is in the papers eh!
You must see so many accidents that you will need PTSD counselling.tapereel said:

The top earning camera catches a LOT more drivers... nearly 19000, and the papers figures are based on the fines at the old £60 penalty.Of course, despite this obvious hiccup, the camera STILL has a valid calibration certificate in force, should any drivers dare to dispute a ticket, and being Redspeed, they will not be able to rely on measuring the distance travelled, as it is ALWAYS 10 metres, no matter what speed they are travelling at when they trigger the camera.

There was a speed camera on a wide four lane single carriageway road in Brighton.
Two local kids came into possession of an electronic flash gun. It must have been a powerful one. They would stand in the central island under the camera and flash it at a car driving past.
We got hundreds of phone calls to the control room, with people saying that they'd been flashed at.
Following a complaint I listened to a phone call about it.
Caller: I've been flached by the camera on the sea front in Brighton.
Call taker: Were you over the speed limit.
Caller: No, definitely not.
Call taker: Then you have nothing to worry about.
Caller: But why did it flash?
Call taker. I have no idea.
Caller: Will you investigate it?
Call taker: No.
There was a CCTV camera that for a few minutes showed the island and the two kids could be seen laughing as car after car braked suddenly.
