Insurance won't return excess
Discussion
My wife had a no-fault claim back in Feb and her insurance paid out for the car (wrote off) minus her £230 excess.
The insurance company has now settled the claim with the other insurer agreeing their client was at fault.
However my wifes insurance are now saying they won't pay her back the excess as she didn't take legal cover on her policy and she has been told to contact the other insurer directly to get it back.
Does this sound right?!

You need to ask the other insurance company for the money back.
Ring them up or write them a letter with all the reference numbers and ask them for a cheque.

Indeed, I was most surprised on my last claim that my own insurance company got my excess back for me. Not the normal thing at all and I put it down to the fact that initially they were not too helpful and were a bit embarrassed. You need to ask the other insurance company for the money back.
