Bought 12 plate great wall steed pick up (yes i know should have went toyota but thought id give it a try-big mistake)

Bought 8th oct so covered with new consumer act

50k on clock

First problem front prop shaft had to be replaced which i knew about, while it was up on ramp noticed rear shock mount nut missing so shock was loose on stud.
Next after decent first drive front bumper popped out at same time noticed crunching fron 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th so dealer informed went to garage and 3rd gear syncro was replaced and hub, told it was ready to collect drives the 50 miles jumps in wont go into reverse without major crunch so left with them.

Get a call few days later they have to replace the clutch so its with them total of 8 days they give me a courtesy car in meantime, and they drop off once done and also said the bumper was the best they could get it,still not right

In meantime its to get a warranty paint claim on rear tailgate as rust coming through and its only 3 and half years old

Following day after its dropped off go to use the rear tailgate and lock snaps off barrel shears completely with key still in it dealer called again to inform

Fast forward today jumps in drive off let off handbrake and rubber gaitor up side of handbrake has perished and fallen off one side and then hear a sloshing think its just fuel tank but no its the driver door full of water from all the rain we've had, whats gonna go next window electrics?

Email sent and message left with dealer to say i have lost all faith with vehicle and want it returned as not fit for purpose as its not of satisfactory quality.... its been one thing after another with it.

Waiting for a call from dealer principle on Monday

Gotta laugh

Yeah and a very reputable one that had moved into this manufacturer

Don't know of i have just bought a bad one as i have rencetly found out the early ones are to be avoided as the new ones now come with 6 year warranty but not for me.

Been around in oz for years and has a following there

Was bought for stables and horsebox towing but i would t feel safe after everything thats went wrong

I have been given a lift in a great wall hilux clone - it was dire.

I imagine that even ISIS wouldnt pick one. (or they may use them as an interrogation method " YOU WILL DRIVE THE GREAT WALL" --"noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo")

They are, as you say, terrible.

OP, get it fixed up and flog it if you can. You'll take a loss, but your life will be better for it.

Why should he have to accept a loss. It's not as if he's bought it and completed the Paris Dakar rally in it.

Tell him you will accept nothing less than a full refund or else he'll find himself spending the day in court.

I've just looked and these things come with a 6 year, 125,000 mile warranty.
Surely none have made it anywhere near that far?

The new ones come with the 6 year warranty think that just came in this year mine just had the 3 years warranty although i made sure they supplied with an extended one.

Dont think that 6 year warranty will be in place long judging by the build quality of mine.

Latest update contacted finance co and main dealer today and informed them of rejecting ive had it less than a month so covered by new consumer act under not of sufficient build quality.

Should have saved your money and brought the new model 3.2 Ranger that's coming out.
facelift with the new style Ford grille like the Transit.
Plenty of grunt and a 6 speed box smile

I changed my pickup three months ago - looking at secondhand only - I've had three Hiluxs in a row since I stopped having Peugeot 504's.

At one to three years old they are all either well looked after or trashed - very little in between. The Hilux interiors were all almost identical to my twelve y/o one - very few people spec them up on purchase and yet they were still 20k.

I found the Navarras too small for what I need and in a rash moment I spent my money on a top spec'd Amarok - it has worked out well so far indeed covering 450 miles effortlessly today - a Ranger would have been an alternative though less to choose from as it is a newer model

I went from an 06 rangie sport ,its a landrover so used to things going wrong lol but not anywhere like that great wall,it will be back on the market within the week probably more than i paid for it but at least its had all those things fixed for the next owner, just not for me.

Going to test drive a freelander and xtrail when i get back.

Mate of mine had the vw pick up and rated it very highly,me i wont buy another vag group car after my 07 a4 tdi quattro blew an engine and then 3 turbos at 5 years old,not for me either.

Other mate has new hilux and loves it.

Onwards and upwards :-)
