Common assault & possession Class B
Discussion
Even if he were convicted of the common assault (aggravated by being domestic) and the PCD after not guilty pleas, I wouldn't expect a custodial sentence, especially given the lack of previous convictions.
The possession offence means very little, the domestic is more serious.
The sentencing guidelines can be found here: https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/wp-content/up...
Remanded? No. Unless he breaches his bail conditions - if he doesn't they are proven to work and be effective and will likely be extended during the police bail to court. Also as long as he doesn't do stupid when he answers bail like tell the officers he's going to harm her upon charge (if he is charged).
I imagine he'll be eligible for a caution for the class B. If he admits the offence (and the domestic matter is dropped) then that may be an option. It may be too late if he's gone down the whole 'I didn't know what it is' route, as that incurs a cost to the police to have the substance examined.
I would imagine you're right that the PCD is more 'nailed on' than the assault.

Is he and his Mrs likely to reconcile? I ask as it's quite normal in domestic incidents for the adults get back together, obviously if they are already separated its less likely. If she withdraws her statement the police will likely NFA it.
I had a guy a few weeks ago who gave his Mrs quite a slap and he got a community order.
It will likely be far more complicated than he has said and the police will have DASH assessed her, this is an issue for them as the social worker, if they are any good will want to see it, and it's going to be more difficult for her to retract stuff.
In my experience of the drug stuff if he admits it they will offer a caution. He will have to do something much more special to see any time in the big house.

As others have said you have to do a bit more than this to go down, first offence. The assault is serious, sure, but it sounds like it was just assault and not ABH/GBH, so that's good news. He can claim mitigating circumstances on that. The Class B possession is naff all IMO. Small amount, personal use, all that. An opiate, so codeine/pethidine/similar. If he were going to be remanded it would already have happened. The fact that he is out says "no threat to others" so I think that when he turns up at the Police Station he's looking at a court date and then a suspended sentence provided he behaves himself between now and then.
Shouldn't this be in the "What has your "friend" been up to" thread?
One of the many things that I love about PH is that one half of the posters are, it appears, immensely rich, permatanned and permanently off shored company directors with a different house and a different Porsche for each day of the week, whilst the other half are underclass chaos monsters that would make the people on Jeremy Kyle seem like exemplars of civilisation. The first lot spend their time speeding, not insuring their cars properly, doing tax fiddles and getting taken to the cleaners by their lingerie model wives/girlfriends. The second lot spend their time speeding, not insuring their cars properly, getting shafted in their zero hour McJobs (the company they work for is owned by one of the first lot), and beating up their chav wives/girlfriends. It's all just one big happy family!

Yes, it wasn't you at all. Of course it wasn't! You hardly even know the guy. That's why you are seeking detailed legal advice about "his" problems on here. Natch! As for the PH demographic, as well as all those two lots of wastrels there are a few coppers lurking around, and they, it goes without saying, are all all as dodgy as f
