Ordered a Christmas present for the wife through an online shop which I hadn't heard of, although they have a uk website, I believe they are based overseas, prices are a lot cheaper than the high street.
Item was sent via a courier, and online tracking showed it was delivered and signed for, now at the time we were all at work so presumed a neighbor had signed and we'd have a card through the door stating where it now was, but not the case. So with no idea of location I rang the sellers to ask where it was, after some going back and forth they said the courier was adamant someone from our house did indeed sign for the goods.with several emails they then mistakenly refunded the money to my card.
Several days later a lady from 4 houses down the road knocked on the door with my item, she was waiting for someone to collect, but no card left, we didn't know, I then mailed the contact I'd been dealing with to state the item had now finally arrived and where it had been, ......and I've heard nothing since, what do I do now? It's been a week since and I have a free item.

Contact them (the company) again?

Maybe the person you are trying to get a hold off is on annual leave or sick.

As you have E-mailed the person you had been speaking to to say that you have now received the goods I would leave it as that.I am sure they will get back to you and if they do not its their problem and a free gift for you.

You E-mailed them that shows you are being honest and I am sure if they reply back and ask you for payment you will give it to them,if they do not ask do not pay them. You cannot really do more than that.

delivery companies need to learn the difference between leaving with a neighbour, and canvassing the street still they can find someone to drag out of bed on thier day off, especially if they are not going to bother leaving a card or putting the house number they left it with on the card.

I would do the same as you have - which is more than 99% of the population would.

If they are too incompetent to follow up - their problem.

Are you able to tell that they haven't reprocessed the payment since you emailed them?

Just leave it with them to deal with. If you pester them to take the payment, you'll probably end up have the item delivered again! biggrin

Just checked my online bank, and no payment has gone out to them since they refunded, from what I gather the courier in question do not have the best rep for deliveries, and i know they drop a lot of goods off, but to be adamant it was at my house but was 4 doors away is laughable

If they request payment I have no issue with forwarding it by the way.

From what I understand the problem is now that a lot of couriers only get paid on item deliveries, so to earn a crust they will leave it with anyone that will sign for it rather than having to take it back to the depot and trying another day.

And I think they get paid a pittance anyway per drop.

Yes, a race to the bottom over the last few years, the self employed subcontractors and get around 50p per parcel, which is supposed to cover all their costs and pay them a wage.

Hmm - If only they would leave a card.
Funny Story... My Wife ordered up a pair of shoes and a couple of days after they stated they'd been delivered she still didn't have them, checked with neighbours and still no sign, but the company insisted we contact the Police to get a crime number, so we followed the procedure. 2 days after the lady next door knocked to say "I took these in a few days ago" it turned out we'd asked her husband, but she'd not mentioned it to him! The next day we received a letter from Police asking if we needed counselling regarding the theft of the shoes as part of the 'victim help' or some-such scheme.

It's around £2000 a year for insurance , if they don't make the drop they don't get paid and have to come back for free

I bought I'd give courier work a go , couldn't do multi drop so I tried same day , the most I got offered subcontracting was 70p a mile one way , some are working for 50p a mile

I received a parcel a while back that had been left in our dustbin. Like most people these days, we have three and it had been left in the garden rubbish one which had recently been emptied. No note left though, so it was lucky I looked in the bin before dumping the grass cuttings in there!

I've just ordered something from Amazon, and their website has instructions about where to leave goods if no reply. One of the options is "With a neighbour", but you have to give their name and house number and it can only be next door.
