A quick question - If you have one of these pointed at you by a couple of officers by the road-side and happened to be speeding, do they have to stop you to issue a charge for speeding or can they put something in the post?

Thanks in advance

Is that a yes to "they have to stop you to issue a charge for speeding" or "can they put something in the post"?

Usually would be stopped at the time.
But if you weren't then no reason why it couldn't be processed by post.

Quick answer

They do not have to stop you and can put something in the post.

They often do stop you in these corcumstances because hand-held devices didn't have a recording mechanism.

Now though, there are hand-held devices that have image capture capability so officers at the side of the road can take many images and pass them back to a central office at their HQ so that the disposal method can be decided away from the roadside. Post is the preferred method in delivering the news to you.

The other answers in this thread seem to have been rather unhelpful.
