Speed awareness course - inform insurance at renewal?

On my Admiral renewal it was one of the first things they asked - points, pending convictions and if I had attended any SACs.
What's the legal situation with "pending convictions"? Principle of common law is innocent until proven guilty so are you obliged to declare and would you get refunded in the cases of a not guilty?Starfighter said:

I understand it's all about risk but the reason I took the course was to avoid points and a hike in premiums. Seems they still make it up as they go along.

They probably see you as being a bigger risk to them, because you're more likely to be found to be at fault in any collision you might have, simply because you're more likely to be breaking the law.I understand it's all about risk but the reason I took the course was to avoid points and a hike in premiums. I know it's a very tenuous connection, but it's there.

Don't tell them. Maintain the lie and they'll never find out.
Bit of a risk - they may never find out, but If they do, it could land you in very big trouble.carreauchompeur said:
Big, big risk. Get involved in a fatal where they stand to lose a fair bit and you can be royally shafted. Airtight, possibly.
Fatalities are cheaper than serious injuries. Unlikely any insurer could claim that the SAC would have been the difference between insuring you and not.
Reality is that they can't check. However, I'm not convinced that confused.com doesn't have an SAC option as it's owned by Admiral group who are the only insurer who care about SACs.
I've got 4 family cars with admiral at the moment and over the years I've had good service from them and elephant.
They are very cost effective, good customer service and processed a claim well and even sorted out some issues with the repairer.
I'm not fussed about the cars so it all works well. Where I have specific needs on the mid special cars they get specialist insurance.
