Without any rancour or agenda, and not knowing where else to put this I thought I'd just send out a quick thanks to you lot.

Living in York I think it's fair to say you've really earned your corn this last month.

When you need the emergency services you are extremely pleased to see them, and they do a good job, although maybe we should add NHS staff as well!

Agreed.

I live in a different part of the UK however I'm sure a cup of tea / coffee with biscuits would mean the world to them if anyone could spare the time so that they can get 2 mins!

He must be on holiday, otherwise Eclassy would be along to point out how all coppers are barstewards.

I live in Lancs and had to help out on boxing day when the river Irwell burst its banks - At around 7pm it was chucking it down and I was stood with the 2 Police officers guarding the bridge (engineers had closed it as danger to life). After listening to them getting abuse of people that wanted to "get to tesco's" or "It takes me 10 mins to go the other way" I nipped home and grabbed a flask of coffee and drove back down to fix them up a brew. They were indeed, very appreciative. Turns out both had volunteered to come in and help after their inspector had emailed asking for help.

Worth a brew in my book to come out and keep people safe. They did have a good old rant about being short staffed, they didn't have a van and was relying on 1 panda car to ferry them about.

I imagine he's been wrongfully arrested or his mate has been kidnapped by the local Bobby or something. Maybe his car window has been smashed by some aggressive tapping and he's at auto glass right now...give the guy a break.

I've had some pictures from a mate who is a bobby in York, horrific! Very glad I'm not having to be doing very long wet hours over Christmas.

Oh and dont worry about eclassy, Rovinghawk will be along before too long I'm sure.

I have friends/relatives/colleagues who live in close proximity to the Irwell all the way from Bacup down to Salford so I'm just wondering whereabouts you were - Rawtenstall by any chance?

Another thumbup and thanks for the blue light brigade from me smile

One of my colleagues lives in Stubbins. I think she was flooded out on Xmas Eve and has been at her in-laws since then. Not a great way to spend the holidays. Another colleague further downstream had to be evacuated by rapid rubber dinghies !
