Very Angry man vrs cyclist - must see!
Discussion
I found this to be very amusing because it gives me a much better picture of what people are talking about when posting threads related to cyclists sharing the road with cars. This video is hysterical IMO and being from New York, USA i got a right kick out of the way the man in the car spoke to the cyclist!!
"Ya
! w
ker! Is this what you do for a hobby!?"Really good stuff here folks LOL
IMO, i know the frustration the man in the car feels because even here in US with very wide roads cyclists seem to always be using the entire lane. I get very pissed about this, however in this particular video I understand that the man on the bicycle was saying, what do you want me to do ride where the car doors can open and hit me. So that I do understand in this situation.

Didn't take long for the cyclist thread to appear.
But what a nonce, talking out the numberplate in his weedy whiny nasel voice then chasing the car. It's like the new trainspotting with these misfit idiots geeking their way around cities with cameras recording bad drivers, let's be honest it's a rare thing nowadays to not come across a bad driver.

tish mentality ??? people with cameras time and time again we have proof they are!!a normal person would have heard the car and gone into the gap ? not if you are a go pro pick you try and goad others to provoke a confrontation..

A normal driver would also have seen there isn't enough room to pass safely and have waited 10-20 seconds instead.

I know a few cyclists who wear cameras because they've been knocked off their bikes before by cars who then drove off without stopping. If it wasn't such a common theme, there would be less incentive to wear them.

That's fair enough but the majority of the videos like these does not show the cyclist in a good light either. What did he gain from chasing the car? Fking knob. In the vast majority of these cases the motorist prioritises their time-to-destination over the life of another human being - literally putting five seconds of their life above the entire rest of the other individuals existence. They are probably unaware of how dangerous they are - but that's on them.
I find the attitude that it's "wrong" to call someone out for putting you in significant risk of your life, or serious injury, staggering - presumably the cyclist or pedestrian should simply chalk it up to experience and be thankful that they're not walking up in hospital?

So the best course of action was to chase him and shout at the driver to ask if he is wearing? He was never going to get anywhere arguing with a complete mong like that.I find the attitude that it's "wrong" to call someone out for putting you in significant risk of your life, or serious injury, staggering - presumably the cyclist or pedestrian should simply chalk it up to experience and be thankful that they're not walking up in hospital?
I agree- people like the driver of the car are too set in their ways, too selfish - they will never change, and will continue to endanger others whenever they get behind the wheel of a car.
However - that doesn't mean that they should be allowed to get away with bullying other people, does it?

No. Thus, the best course of action would be to send the video to the police as confronting the driver could have ended up a lot worse for the cyclist. However - that doesn't mean that they should be allowed to get away with bullying other people, does it?
There was nothing to be achieved with chasing the driver, at all, unless you wish to take the law into your own hands which is not very smart.
The Police won't do anything about this type of incident, unfortunately- the camera is generally there as the "last and only" witness, in case this had been a fatal hit-and-run.
I would have chased this guy down, I would have shouted at him - he'd just put my life in danger, he'll never be punished for it, he'll do it again tomorrow, so yes, it's pointless, but it makes the person feel better when the adrenalin is flowing.

You fill your boots. You go and shout at everyone who passes you too closely and I doubt you will feel better when someone actually smacks you or worse - hits you with an object/knife. Best thing to do is to not let it get to you but as I said - fill your boots tough guy.I would have chased this guy down, I would have shouted at him - he'd just put my life in danger, he'll never be punished for it, he'll do it again tomorrow, so yes, it's pointless, but it makes the person feel better when the adrenalin is flowing.

Good good, you just thought you'd throw in the ad hominem because you own an old Peugeot and drive too close to cyclists, maybe?
Nope. I cycle to work, 8 miles a day actually. I am fortunate that only a small proportion of it is on the road but I feel rather vulnerable. People often pass closely, at least once a week and I can only imagine that a 1 to 1 with a driver would get me more annoyed. Other than that, its very enjoyable.
