Where will it all end?

I've been doing a lot of driving in southern Spain recently.

What on earth is going on with the speed limits? I'm driving on country roads, not through residential areas, with regular 50 and 30 km/h speed limits, where any cautious/reasonable person would drive at maybe 80 km/h.

I actually drove back to my hotel last night, and I stuck to the speed limits the whole way. I had a queue of over ten cars behind me at one point, everyone crawling along at 30. Some gesticulated at me as they overtook, some honked their horns.

I asked a local today, what his advice was. He said as long as I drive under 80 the police won't bother me.

Why are their these stupid low speed limits? What is happening to the world?

This idiocy is happening everywhere.

The fact so many flout the limits indicates how daft they are.

It's a shame the Police don't refuse to enforce them.

At least for the time being you can ignore them within reason when abroad and just pay the fine if they stop you. When they get round to data-sharing (2017 supposedly) it'll be a bloody nightmare.
