Hey guys! Been a member for a good while but this is my first post so I'll use this as a 'NEWBIE' hello.........Hello haha!

Okay so right in at the deep end. I recieved a parking ticket and yes bang to rights it was me however I'm being a weasel and for good reason. I was parked on a terraced street and the front of my car was over hanging some double yellows (the majority of the car was in a perfectly legal parking area) due to the fact some numpty in a clio (i know, they are huge!) was taking up about 3 spaces tut. My query is this, the council have provided 2 seperate photos and neither one of them show my whole number plate. Do i have a case if i appeal and state the car is not mine as i dont recognise the number plate? it shows all letters apart from the last one as it is out of shot.

thoughts?

Basically I would rather spend the money on 12 months tax for my Yami R1 than giving it portsmouth council.

Hope you are all having a great weekend and i send my many thanks in advance.

Sounds like the warden got the right guy smile. Not sure the photo is relevant unless you intend to lie and say it wasn't your car.

As you had your front wheels on double yellows when you were parked I cannot see an appeal working and if you want to go to court and say the car was not yours - good luck with that.

Is it not easier and better to hold your hands up,man up and to just pay half of the fine within 30 days and forget about it.

Pick your battles, £30 is not a lot, why bother with the aggro. I park on the very edge of parking spaces only on the end of rows to protect a little against dents and dings, sometimes the attendant decides one wheel or other is over the line and tickets me..... I'd rather pay £30 than get the car dented by some careless old duffer or ditsy mum and her kids, I could try to appeal since being over the line doesn't mean I'm in the next space, there isn't one, as I never park other than in an end space

Just to clarify, before heads explode, we are talking using a car park once, maybe twice, in a month, and a ticket maybe twice a year, so it's not daily!

Ouch, £70 for parking?, they really know how to attract tourism then! That seems really high, but I have only ever had local parking tickets in this country, maybe that's more the norm these days? Our council is missing a trick! smilesmilesmilesmile

But is that reduced by 50% if you cough within 14 days? Or is £70 the 50% reduction, £140 the full fine?!!

They normally take several photos so it's likely they also have a couple showing the full plate.

As far as I see it, the photos are only to back up the word of the warden, they're not the proof required. If that were the case, they'd shoot a five second video that shows signage, car, plate and road markings.

Hi

Just touching the yellows is a bit harsh, but then that's the nature of the beast,

Try Pepipoo , they are good, but it's quite a lot of work. Cheaper to pay!

My ticket receipt fell off the window and I got a fine, they helped me out. Was a question of principle, & the council gave in on technicality

Good luck

Portsmouth Council PCN's are £70 reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days. You've admitted parking on double yellows so pay up the £35!

Lieing in court saying it isn't your car will just land you in further trouble. The picture not having the full number-plate is irrelevant. It's only missing 1 letter!

If any part of the vehicle overhangs the yellow lines, then you're in contravention. Tyres don't have to be touching.

Portsmouth CC have lots and lots and lots and lots of bays with non compliant signage, incomplete double yellows etc.

I would suggest looking at the technical aspects of the ticket as I recon at least 50% are not lawfully issued. For instance all the bays round Queen Street, Admiralty Rd etc had (not parked down that way for a bit as live other side of water now) non compliant signage...

Double yellows don't need signs.
