Got my first ever FPN at the weekend :(
Discussion
I was on a driving trip around Wales and on the 2nd day I got pulled over and issued with a fixed penalty notice.
I was stuck behind some traffic (2 cars in front) through a small village. One car turned off just as we got to a NSL road, I decided to overtake on a huge wide road, no cars coming the other way but didn't quite make it back in before the solid white lines. Looked in my mirror and noticed the blue lights on an unmarked BMW. Goddamit.
The officer was very polite but wasn't interested in giving me a warning just asked to see my licence and then said he's giving my a FPN. Arse!
I know I was in the wrong but I can't help but feel a little hard done by.

In the vantage? If so, although you were bang to rights, maybe he was more annoyed at the car than the offence, it happens. Down to experience, you can talk to some and they will be sensible, others won't, and we don't know how much late over the lines you were!
Did he video it?
Yes it was in the Vantage. It's annoying as I had the chance to overtake a few times before but felt that it wasn't safe so waiting for a nice clear bit of road. There must have been a convoy of about 8/9 cars. I was the 3rd in.Did he video it?
It wasn't on a particular hooning road to my knowledge, I was on my way from Cardiff to North Wales, just past the Beacon national park.
No he didn't have recording equipment, he said he would turn around and take photos of the road markings for evidence. I tried passing the good attitude test too, wasn't argumentative but obviously he felt I needed the 3 points and fine.
Mmm, I've chanced that before and got away with it, challenged that he didn't see me cross the line, given its a fast car he couldn't judge, etc, but the moment has gone once he writes it up, and if he wasn't having any of it, just one of those things, guess it will make you more aware next time though eh? Best of luck, they are nice cars mate, I miss mine if only for the sound and the 'it's James Bond' comments!
