BBC said:
A bin lorry driver will go on trial in September charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Scott Hamilton, 43, is said to have reversed and struck 80-year-old Peter Wills in Dunblane in December 2014.

Mr Wills, who was in an electric wheelchair, was severely injured and later died.

Mr Hamilton offered a plea of guilty to the lesser charge of driving without due care and attention. This was rejected by prosecutors.

He will now stand trial in September.

Read the report, it's explained there.

Yet they are not prosecuting the bin lorry driver who lied to gain the job, then passed out and killed 5 or 6 people?

Posting from the phone, and can never make it big enough to read properly when it links to something, will do later though. How did the old guy end up behind the truck in the first place?

^^^^ This!!!!

Boiled my piss when they said no further action - still not heard anything about the civil suit though?

Anyone driving a large, heavy vehicle should be absolutely meticulous in their driving, especially when near pedestrians!

That's not stated but the driver apparently reversed without making sure it was safe to do so and without a banksman.

Indeed, ridiculous.

This presumably has the potential to turn in to a unwholly mess for this employer as well. I see that he didn't use a suitably qualified Banksman who was available, so no doubt we will discover that they had too many bins to empty in too short time, never used banksman, corners were cut in order to get the job done etc.

I'ts amazing how many lemmings on bikes or on foot and perhaps on phone, listening to music or just not concentrating completely ignore reversing beepers/sirens, flashing lights etc on vehicles and carry on mindless of what's trying to maneuver. No blame pointed at anyone, just observations from one side.

Couldn't agree more.
If I'm reversing out of a parking space with my reverse lights working and someone steps of the pavement expecting me to stop, I don't bother.
Courtesy works both ways. Can pretty much guarantee they'll be glued to a 'device'.

Boils my piss with car and van drivers that's fail to give way to large vehicles when they are attempting to
access a restricted gate or site entrance or cut in front and to exit the slip road instead of waiting and getting into the correct lane first.

And it boils mine those that want to sit on my back seat. If they feel that is an appropriate distance then cutting infront of them should cause no problems as the stopping distance is larger

Wrong. Subject to leave, he is being prosecuted.

So you'd run someone over after having previously clearly seen them? That would go really well for you. Dick.

No doubt you bellends will be the type to not bother looking where you're going and blame the car driver.
It's simple, good old fashioned, courtesy. If a vehicle is doing a 3 point turn in the road I wouldn't just walk out right behind it and force him to stop.
You lot are merely showing your selfish true colours, and without looking, I reckon you'll all be down South.

How you can make such a comment on a subject like this is staggering.

I sincerely hope one of the bereaved relatives or friends pops round & administers a hefty kick to your bks.
