Firstly - liability. I was reversing out of a space in a car park. Mr audi comes around the corner. I don't see him, he doesn't see me and I hit his wing. I know I'm at fault, but 100%?
No damage to mine - £320 to his.
I'm not claiming as I have no damage - will I need to pay my excess?
I have 7 years protected no claims - how much is it likely to effect my premium?
Trying to decide whether to settle outside insurance.

In the eyes of insurance ..yes 100%.
I was reversing out my drive on a dead straight road with clear visibility for about 200 yards either way. Reversed out and started to move off forwards when something hit me hard enough to spin the van 180* !! Turns out the old boy opposite me came down his drive and looked one way for traffic before nailing it in his auto straight into the side of my van. Hit me hard enough to do £8000 damage to a ford Fiesta and lived one house across the road from me.
The second I mentioned the word 'reversed' my Ins co didn't want to listen. It was instantly my fault as I was reversing, Well I wasn't at the time of the crash..and he drove into the side of me. No amount of proof including witness statements would change their minds so I now have a 'fault' claim against me for some 90 year old boy who really should have quit about 20 years ago.
Regarding the excess, again only in my little experience it went as follows.... if you claimed and had the other persons car fixed but NOT yours, no excess should apply. If you want BOTH cars fixed you would have to pay what ever your excess is. This was certainly the case when my lad did something similar.
I'm not in the Ins trade so only speaking from personal experiences.
