So far as I can tell, Huddersfield (and possibly others) Magistrates Court has been recording two convictions, for two breaches of the law, for a single action.
The High Court has told them that this is wrong, and that they should stop it, reversing a number of convictions.

Paper-pushing? Stats massaging? Or an issue of Justice?

It could be a useful principle if say you received 2 speeding infringements in 2 days. You might be able to argue for cancellation of the 2nd one because the first has not been fully dealth with - paid or contested and as an offender you have not had an opportunity to mend your ways.

going at a tangent here but the 2 for 1 deal of the OP was a good opportunity to raise the point.

I think you've misunderstood. The person in question was charged with 6 offences for 3 incidents. By the looks of it 3 harassment charged and 3 racially agrravated harassment charges (2 for each incident).

The court has found them guilty of both on each occasion yet the offender should have only been found guilty of the racially aggravated due to the fact it is more serious.

If you want to try the 2 speeding offences in 2 days you are welcome but it won't work as each is a separate incident. If you were on one continuous journey ie haven't stopped and get caught by 2 cameras then you can try to have it heard as one offence.

Wrong.
