Faulty tablet, advice required
Discussion
Hoping for a bit of advice regarding a faulty Samsung tab4.
Basically, bought on August 3rd 2015 for my little lad. Used in moderation and supervised, in good condition, not dropped, no scratches, always lived in a case. Over last few weeks it has been slow to turn on, also sometimes refusing to charge. Last couple of days, problem has got worse, so decided today to return to shop where purchased. Back in its original box, all accessories present.
Wife took it in, explained what was wrong, showed the receipt. Refused to exchange, told we had to inform Samsung directly.
I believed that the responsibility lies with the shop to sort this out. Wife got in a flap, walked out with a still broken tablet.
Can anyone advise on next step please? Thanks in advance.

You're outside the 6 months period when the fault is presumed to have been present at the time of sale. The onus is now on you to prove that it's an inherent/manufacturing fault rather than something caused by use/misuse/abuse.

August 2015 would be SOGA and not the Consumer Rights Act. In any event as practical matter it will probably be far quicker to go through Samsung. They do have some stores which do repairs on site.http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/part/1...
