Charity Question
Discussion
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
The wife has bought two tickets for a charity event taking place on 16/04, however on the flyer there is no registered charity number displayed. Is it a legal requirement for charities to disclose this information to the public?
From doing a tad bit of research, it appears that the charity in question 'dissolved' in 2010.
I would've uploaded a photo of the flyer, however it's fairly large and can't be uploaded (I think)
Got a pretty crappy photo of the ticket(s) if it helps

Vaisakhi is a Sikh festival and you have bought two tickets for it at The Willows in Ilford, looks like a good night out, (if you like Indian food and music).http://www.thewillowsilford.com/events/
Mind you if it really is a charity event there should ID numbers on the ticket, the seller should have an ID badge, lots of other rules regarding Street selling and door to door. They have got to be registered with the local authority that sort of thing.

The flyer on the website linked says that the funds are going to "Childrens Eye Camp in India and various other local charities in the UK".
Whilst slightly surprised that a Lions charity is not registered checking http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/index.php does show they are an official Lions club.
Part of he problem could be that when you are a registered charity you have to have stated aims and objectives. You then cannot give money to other charities that do not meet those aims and objectives. So if you are a fund raising charity it is a lot easier not to be registered in the first place because then you can give it to local causes that you want to give to. I know our local WI got caught in this as they had a drama show that raised money for local charity, and the show then had to be staged independently of the WI to enable it to give its money to causes it wanted to.
SO don't be concerned, enjoy what looks to be a great evening supporting charities.
