Car still in dealership for warranty work
Discussion
After some advice please chaps.
My 12 month old Range Rover Evoque has been at the dealers now for appraoching 3 weeks. Thay have tried numerous fixes to an electrical fault but as yet have been unable to cure the fault.
question is, where do i stand legally? At what point or do i have any claim against them for a replacement car, compensation etc. the dealership in question have been totally shocking and there advisor rude, patronising and un informed.
any advice greatly appreciated

I think that I'd put them under notice in writing saying that they've had it for three weeks now and giving them say 7 days to finally fix or tell them that you want to reject the car.
Your Contract is with the dealer but they will then escalate if to the manufacturer.
That's what I did with my BMW R1200GS.

They have hatimes to repair a small part of trim which they still having to fix.
the fault is with the dash and thay have replaced all manor of components which im my eyes are totally unrelated.
this is the second time it has been in for this fault, the first time they failed to even look into it. we were told this time that it would be back with us after a couple of days... we had issues previously with the dealer failing to repair a faulty clutch on a new Freelander and on the third attempt we rejected the vehicle and got a replacement in the form of this evoque..
am really at a loss

Call LRCS on 0370 500 0500 and get them involved.
I have just been doing this and TBH what the dealer said would be 2 weeks to even look at the car to diagnose turned to being done/gearbox removed new crank sensor and ring fitted and back to us in a little over the two weeks (BH weekend). I was getting daily updates even if nothing had been done they were constantly chasing the dealer.

Do you have any idea how complex the electrics/electronics are on these cars?, or how much integration is incorporated between the various systems? This kind of fault is a technician's worst nightmare! - Even more so if the fault is intermittent!
Trying to trace a fault that could be down to a faulty sensor, a faulty circuit board, an individual circuit component that is faulty, a wiring fault, an earth fault, a signal fault, an electrical adjustment fault, etc., etc., can be nigh on impossible!
You say the advisor was: "rude, patronising and uninformed.", to be honest, sadly that's pretty much par for the course these days!
Service advisors tend to treat customers as if they don't know anything about cars and talk down to them, with a: "We're the experts not you!" attitude.
The fact of the matter is though, most of them have no idea about car repairs whatsoever, hence why they're "uninformed".
If it were Me, I'd be asking to talk to the service manager rather than the service advisor, and asking if they have any idea as to how much longer the repair might take. Then I would also start to discuss the options about rejecting the car, getting a replacement car or getting a refund.
BTW: How shocking have they been? - Have they left you completely without transport or have they supplied you a courtesy car free of charge in the meantime?
Most main dealer technicians will only work on what the diagnostics computer tells them is the fault .
Very few have a proper modern auto electrician who is capable of interpreting the faults on a modern car .
We had an Alfa that had many electrical faults that we chased and chased but to no avail. It was finally solved by an award winning main dealer auto electrician who found that the speaker system had been connected to an upgraded audio system out of sequence ,causing rogue messages to be generated by the ECU.
Ask JLR who is the best auto electrics guy in the area and get them to have him investigate it .
