Neighbour across the road has just finished working on his car for 5 hours but last job was an oil and filter change.

Seen him drain the oil into an orange bucket and slide it out from under the car when he was doing.
Now just watched him pack his tools away and pour the contents of the oil bucket down the drain at the side of the road.

Do I call the council or police? This isn't on!

Don't think it would be police, would be the environmental health department of your local council, I would have thought.

Were you watching him for five hours? Did he get hot and dirty? Do you like him?

Most of the U.K. Has been enjoying the weather, not what you were doing!

My bedroom balcony is above our front door which I was sitting out on.
It's hard to not notice what he's doing so you can ram your 'funny' comments.

Bloody stupid and selfish thing to do.

I'm sure the Environment Agency would want to inspect (and treat) any stream or watercourse where that storm drain discharges.

I wish more people had your attitude - I'd be straight round to rob the local building society, if everyone would just keep their kneb out!

Just get a Fairy Liquid bottle, fill it with old engine oil then spray it inside his letterbox. Maybe he'll click on.

Pop over and just remind him of the damage it will do. He probably thinks anything chucked down a drain is automatically sanitised and therefore not of concern.

Street drains in urban areas go to a sewage works with everything else for this reason. The WTW has oil traps l it's still antisocial behaviour of the first order and illegal. Prosecution by EHO is possible.

that's my understanding as well.

it also won;t help the 'greasebergs' and nappy mountaisn down the drains / sewers ...

sewers are for pee, poop, toilet paper and the 'dirty' waste water from buildings i.e washing + washing up water / bathwater , the street drains are for rain water falling onto the roads, paths and roofs...

+1

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. As far as I'm concerned that is much worse than fly tipping.

Local recycling centres can accept up to 20 litres of waste engine oil per visit, for free. Which means you must also be a massively lazy to not simply dispose of it properly.

It's a £2000 fine if you put it down the drain, such is the seriousness.

Shop him to the authorities.
