A month or so back, I stopped off in the company Volvo at one of our offices....normally I don't park outside, I use a local car park, but I had to pick up three hefty desktop PCs.

I parked outside with a notice in the window saying I was loading at the address in question.

15 minutes later, I returned to discover I'd received a PCN. Fiddlesticks!

On returning home, I used their appeal system online to challenge the ticket. I pointed out that their own regulations allowed for 20 minutes loading.

I got a polite reply back a week later saying that the agent who issued the ticket did not believe that the vehicle was a commercial vehicle, but that if I could provide a job sheet of some sort they would reconsider.

I submitted a scan of my job sheet. They responded a week later saying they'd cancelled the ticket.

Terribly sorry that this thread isn't full of moral outrage.....I thought they handled it pretty well.

Better than when I had a similar one in Hereford - they insisted that a VW Transporter wasn't a goods vehicle, and only reluctantly conceded when I sent 'em a scan of the V5C saying "Body type: Panel van"

You must have dealt with a human being.

We had a minibus picking up in Camden around midnight driver pulls onto the pavement to avoid and obstruction and he gets a ticket via a camera. Tried appealing but was told he should of stayed on the road and blocked the traffic.

Wouldn't mind if that was the rule across the country but it ain't as every man and his dog in Hertfordshire parks on the pavement

Are there actually any rules which say the vehicle has to be a commercial vehicle to be 'loading'? I parked in a loading area a few years ago in my V70 and came out of a shop only to meet a traffic warden in the process of writing me a ticket. Without me having to say anything, he stopped writing and cancelled the ticket as soon as he saw I was carrying a washing machine.

The sign on the bay said "Goods vehicle loading bay". The fact that it actually was a van meant I didn't need to get technical with them, but they were quoting legislation which defined a goods vehicle as having been "designed or constructed" for the carriage of goods - which, to me, seems to include just about everything with a boot...
