Livestock on the road
Discussion
Hypothetical question for the moment, but does anyone know what the liability position is if someone hits a sheep or cow that is on the road, which should have been fenced in by the farmer?
Does the driver cough up?Or will Farmer Giles have to pay for any damage ?
I ask as round here there are dozens of the little wooly b
ds that have escaped their enclosure and end up wandering the verges, and sometimes the roads(have even seen cows on the road-THAT prompted a call to 101) I know there are areas where the sheep roam free, but here the roads have fences.
And what if they end up in my garden?(Yay! Free grass cutting
) If my dogs bother them, will I get in trouble(although my two daft b
hes are more likely to get beaten up by the WBL's*)
