Angry pickup driver on the M1 this morning
Discussion
Watched it.
Pretty dangerous, I would report this to the police and explain how you felt threatened.
I can't really take sides as we can't see how close you were to the front of him when you pulled infront. However no excuse for his driving.
Although as you have correctly surmised there were other things you could have done to defuse the situation, I'd have just backed off and let him get on with it.
Unless I was driving around in a banger, in which case I'd let him crash into me and then sue the ass off him.
HTH.

No damage caused or injuries. No collision. Both drivers at times driving carelessly and without consideration for other road users. My guess would be something happened prior to the start of this clip that got the truck driver worked up.
Just leave it and move on and learn from the experience or you may find you will also be looked at for careless driving as well as the other driver.

Works a treat for me- Now, perhaps we can have the full story, Like what happened leading up to this?
absolutely nothing except i pulled in front of him at the begining of the video with plenty of space in front of him.I do have to admit to not reacting very well after he tries to bash me off the road. (driving up the middle lane)

Not great driving by either of you....
Multiple over takes by you on the inside ....
It would be useful to see the road positioning of the vehicles leading up to you pulling out...
How long had you been in lane 2 before pulling out? And how large was the space?
what I thought was a large space (maybe not to him though after seeing how he reacted) and I was in the middle lane for a good couple of miles (which admittedly was going faster than the outside lane for a lot of that time.Multiple over takes by you on the inside ....

Can you honestly not see anything about the way you drive which might wind people up?
I'm not defending the pickup driver who is a prize tosser but undertaking several cars in the middle lane before diving back into the third lane (which you did at least twice) is terrible driving.

OP you driving from 1:05 onwards is pretty crap. Weaving in and out of lanes undertaking possibly shows why other drivers get wound up at you. Try driving less aggressively.
I'd imagine if you sent this to the police insisting they have a word with him and you about both your driving.
Pick up driver shouldn't have tried to undertake like that or force them self into an unsafe gap but you also shouldn't have closed the gap, potentially causing an accident just to prevent him completing his dangerous manoeuvre.
Worse driving from the pick up IMO, but poor driving from both of you.

im only doing this to get away from the pickup (although admittedly a very bad way of handling it). that is definitely not my normal driving style, I drive up and down the M1 for hours a day, I prefer to keep my cruise on 70 and relax OP you driving from 1:05 onwards is pretty crap.
