Just seen the most frightening piece of driving I've ever seen. Driving west on the A4 near Taplow (just past Sainsburys, some of you will know it) there's a roundabout followed by a crossing with traffic lights. The lights went amber then red and I stopped. To my horror, in my mirror behind me I saw someone in a White Range Rover with darkened windows accelerate onto the wrong side of the road and drive straight through the crossing. There was a lady waiting to cross to my left and because the lights were red to traffic the green man had come on. I hit the horn and kept it on to make some noise and fortunately it startled her enough for her to stop still in front of me as the Range Rover passed me on the outside. Thinking of the timing in which it all happened I am certain that if I hadn't startled her she would been hit full on by the Range Rover driver. I got the reg number (personalised plate) but without the names of the other witnesses is it worth bothering?

Worth ringing 101 and passing on the information.

The reg. may be known or they can keep an eye out for it.

He's sounds a right idiot.

This. The others might have phoned, too, and all the reports added together may be sufficient to kick things into action.

Years back, I had somebody take great exception to me overtaking them on a dual carriageway, ending up with them trying to push me onto the verge... Nice easy two-letter-two-digit plate, so that went straight on the phone to Mr Plod. I had a call back an hour or two later from a traffic sergeant, saying there wasn't really enough evidence for charges, but he was only too happy to go round to their house and read the riot act.

I had a similar thing a while back. Just pulled away from some lights and saw a BMW about to overtake at a stupid speed (residential, built up area) Further down the road I saw another car about to pull out from the n/s to come in my direction. Held my hand on the horn and flashed my lights and like to think he saw the overtaker who by then was travelling too fast to get back in lane and took to the wrong side of a keep left bollard and disappeared into the distance. Much to my surprise, a couple of hundred yards down the road the BMW was coming back towards me to, I think turn into the side road he needed, but was going too fast to take first time round. Even then he very nearly chopped in front of me making the manoeuvre. Unfortunately it all happened so quickly I couldn’t get any detail.

O/T but I've had a car come past at about 50mph when I was just about to step on to a pelican crossing (red light for them and green for us). Had young son and wife with me too. Scared the st out of all of us that's for sure.

Has anyone actually heard of the results of calling something like this in to the police? I know that a complaint about driving can lead to the police inviting said driver for a 'chat' but without any form of evidence does it ever result in prosecution and if so for what?

I wouldn't normally bother, once saw a Lambo going up the M4 at about 100 changing lane according to where ever there was space. Although I wouldn't do it myself I chuckled at the sound of the engine. smile It didn't look dangerous to me. But this immersible nearly wiped out a pedestrian! Yes it was a white Range Rover with blacked out windows. The policewoman implied they already had reports on the system about dangerous driving for the registration number.

Is the plate logged on http://rate-driver.co.uk? Might already have some comments left there is the police said they've had complaints before. Not too sure how I feel about that site, but it's funny reading the comments sometimes.
