Parking with the hazard lights
Discussion
Many people park where they shouldn't (e.g. double yellow, or single yellow during restricted hours, or double parking, while they go into a shop), with the warning lights flashing. Do they believe that the warning lights exempt them from the rules (not true, is it?). Or do they know there is no such exemption (and presumably use the lights for safety reasons)?

Of course there is no such exemption.
The ones that annoy me the most are:
1. vehicles at the side of the road with hazards on, where the left hand indicator is obscured by another vehicle behind, so it looks like they are about to pull out
2. people who park where they may quite legitimately park but still put the hazards on, force of habit presumably.

I use the hazards when loading on double yellows. Wouldn't park on them otherwise though.
I agree with this as driving a HGV delivering chilled food to many customers a day in towns often without loading bays (or where they do have them they are often occupied by blue badge holders), it highlights the vehicle is stationary and not stopped in traffic etc. They also act as a beacon to traffic wardens, I just love them as you can see them from a way off and make a bee line for em! Best combination ever was hazards on zigzags.
Some people do genuinely think that putting the hazards on means all is ok (have actually had that said to me in the past, 'but I thought you couldn't book me with my flashers on' )

perhaps if the traffic wardens could evict those parking in blue badge spaces without a badge/ without a badge holder in car/ misusing a badge then blue badge holders might not park in loading bays. but again, the problem comes down to lack of driving courtesy and common sense. ( and the odds against getting caught), or the common excuse "I'll only be a few minutes" .
See it all the time, usually on double yellows or a clearway of some description. They're usually on their mobile phone which I suppose is better than killing us all by driving while talking on it.
I always thought it was more of a case of
"i'm stopped illegally so i'll stick my hazards on and people will think I've broken down"

We can't evict we can only ticket. And some local authorities allow badge holders to park in loading bays. 'Just a couple of minutes doesn't work on me' I'm a move or get a ticket type of person
