Just thought I'd ask if anyone has done similar and what the result was. I paid the in laws dartford crossing on our return from holiday recently, stupidly I entered the reg plate wrong, the last two digits were the wrong way round. Normally I'd notice on the next page when it gives the cars details but unlucky for me the car I put in was the same make, model and colour as the in laws motor!

I've just fired off a challenge, has anyone else done similar before? I'm hoping they'll realise it was a simple mistake, I attached the invoice for the wrongly entered plate with my challenge.

I have no personal experience but I've heard they are quite reasonable in these situations.

That is indeed unlucky !

ETA. They must show an overpayment on the wrong reg'n no, and so your account will clearly hold up (unless you're REALLY unlucky, and the other car was travelling on the bridge or through the tunnel on the same day and didn't bother to pay it, in which case with luck like that I'd just give up and pay the PCN !!)

Ring the customer service and explain - I found them quite reasonable - I had a fine through my post from them last year - That was the first time I had travelled on that road since they removed the toll booth so didn't realise that I need to pay online - I explained this and they removed the fine and just charged me the normal toll.
