Just received one for €45, how are these enforced now?

Will I need to sit in a third party embassy to avoid extradition or is it worth just paying it?

I'd pay it, based on it's only £40 for a speeding ticket with no points, and am likely to be visiting France again...

Remember when €45 was only £30? Speeding not so good value now.

Have paid it. With the amount I spent on tolls I was hoping for some form of rebate.

Looking forward to see how much the rental company charge my credit card for their services.

Got me worried for a sec as I drove the whole of France yesterday and seen some flashes in the mirror from those side cameras.

That was in my own car though, not a rental.

No fines under €90,- can be enforced cross-border for ANY EU country, that's why "les flics" usually make up the fine to €90,- even though a frog wouldn't get it as high!

If it's a UK registered car you have nothing to worry about.

Im curious to see how much if anything you get billed

The previous owner of our house gets 2-3 French letters a year which Im fairly sure are speeding tickets and at a guess in rental cars too

He presumably still has our address on his driving licence and uses our house on the rental car forms too

Its been going on for years so the credit card charge for providing details is either zero or a sum close to it otherwise he wouldnt do it

Im torn between thinking he's a sleazy tt or actually admiring his style

Cheers

He's a knob. HTH.

If you are minded, write to the DVLA stating you think his licence is being used fraudulently.

It's a licence, not a right.

How did you manage to do that...they have signs alerting you to their presence about 500m before them?

Waze also alerts you if you use that, although illegal in theory in France.

If Waze alerts you to French camera locations it's illegal in practice, not just theory. If, however, it alerts you to 'danger zones' which also include other hazards, it's perfectly OK. TomTom rench alerts, for example, are for the latter so are safe to have and use.

Not sure whether Waze is covered by the legislation due to the way the data is collected, but I do know it is popular over there.

Only two or three French letters a year? That's not sleazy!
