Bought a rare car part on eBay for a decent price, I was well pleased. Said it would be delivered within 3 days by the 19th August to be precise. The 19th came and went and a few days later I sent a message asking if it had been posted, a day later I got a response 'I'm on holiday and busy i'll get around to sending it in a few days when I get back'

I'm a patient guy I so give him the benefit of the doubt. Another week and nothing so by this point it's starting to get ridiculous so I email him. Another response "I'm back from holiday and busy I'll post it tomorrow next day delivery". Again I gave it a few days and then sent a polite message.

The réponse was as follows ' My dad has been in hospital, I wish you could see him now you don't understand, I wouldn't wish his illness on anyone'

Now I'm also a sympathetic type but i don't know if he's genuine or just a sick individual who would make something up. I do know that he had three weeks to post it and to be blunt, it's not my fault he's father is ill, if at all.

I thought i'd get my money back and it would all be over. Then today he has posted up a tracking number and a photograph of the receipt, it has my address on it but for some unknown reason the plonker has sent it International postage to Ireland, i'm in the UK and my address is clearly on the label.

What are the chances of me ever getting it? and what are the chances of me getting a refund if he has provided a tracking number?

Hello from Ireland, I've had your problem the other way around, ie sent to UK rather than Ireland. It usually gets to me but there will be big delay, someone somewhere will eventually work it out.

Sounds like the standard practive for scam accounts.

They are trying to delaying your complaint/refund request so they can screw over more people before the account is closed.

Don't delay.

Start a resolution dispute wit the seller & eBay/PAYPAL will immediately suspend the funds relating to the transaction from his account. He will either end up with a negative balance on his paypal account which has to be brought back to zero before it can be used or they will hold the funds to the value of the transaction if the account is in credit. Anything that gets credited to the account is also unavailable (it goes to bringing the balance back to zero) until either you close the complaint as you get the part or they find in your favour and you get a refund.

He won't be covered under the sellers protection scheme if he did not send it to the address as registered to the account that the payment came from even if he has posted a tracking reference.

Ask him why he went on holiday if his dad is so ill???rolleyes

Open up a case against him before your time limit runs out.
