Topic from some pub banter.

Trailers don't need MoT'ing, but is it legal to park one on a road without being attached to a tow vehicle?

And further to this, if it is. Then would there be any restrictions to parking a non road legal car on said trailer?

I'd imagine that the trailer need to be attached to a road-legal vehicle, particularly if it has a non-roadworthy car on top. Otherwise you may as well prop up the non-roadworthy car on a pile of bricks.

But I have no legal knowledge back that up, just common sense.

I fully agree on common sense. Hence why it was some pub banter. biggrin

Wouldn't mind knowing some answers though.

Ignoring the legal side from a practical perspective you are making it very easy for someone to steal both the trailer and car.

Thanks. After some Googling I too found that link. smile

Not sure on the theft thing. You can similarly disable a trailer. So I can't see it being better or worse tbh. Lets face it, any would be thieves could always bring their own trailer to put your car onto.

Check with your local council.
There may be byelaws prohibiting certain vehicles etc.
Caravans, campervans, buses, commercial vehs, trailers etc..
Unless an emergency, breakdown with a time limit to clear.

Really you are just making it harder to steal the trailer, because they've go to get the worthless piece of crap car off it asap.
