Due to me being disorganised and useless, I am unable to find my V5 document.

I had a car parked on my drive which was SORNed, I had to move it from my drive and park on the street. I know I should have then got it taxed, but due to it having no MOT I could not get this done.

Whilst parked on the road, it was clamped for having no tax.

Clamp removed yesterday and new MOT obtained.

But how do I tax the car? I cannot find V5, DVLA are too busy to even let me join a queue, online is not possible without the V5.

Any suggestions, as I do not want it clamped again (£260 to release) and they are apparently entitled to do so from 24 hours after the previous clamp has been removed.

Help me PH, you're my only hope!

Only real option is to hang on to DVLA for new V5 but that will take a while. Unless you have a tax reminder.

A Post Office that still does tax, a V62 form, £25 in costs plus whatever the tax amount is.

What do you mean? That the queue is too long and you can't wait or they have a message saying they are too busy?

Perhaps you should give up driving and catch the bus.

Go to the post office with mot and insurance certs. Ask them if they will tax it then fill in a v62 for a new tax book.

Is insurance still checked in the post office?

Had a similar sitch a few weeks ago - went to the postoffice and paid £25 extra for a new V5 but they taxed it there and then
