An odd bad debt situation - options?
Discussion
An odd situation at work. I have a client that is borderline a bad debt.
We have a ccj on them which is fine but irrelevant.
Bizarrely their company has just been purchased by another company who gave him a modest amount of money for it.
It is all a bit dodgy as the company was ripe for liquidation and worthless.
THis company don't have a customer facing part and are by and large uncontactable.
My guess is that somehow this 'recovery' company plans to collect any book debts and shut it down and that's how they make their money.
Is there a legal way to do this without paying preferentially?
My assumptions is that they were going to effectively strip it of assets whilst charging a management fee of some kind from a separate company which equated to anything they collected. Basically an un licensed liquidator under another guise.
Or what? Anyone think of what this might be?
