Claims handling - car damaged my property
Discussion
An idiot drove off the road and smashed into my front gate and wall, i got all their details so need to get it sorted ASAP.
Any recommendations for a Claims handling company? I expect it will be a £5k repair bill, the installation was brand new in January 2016.
I want to get the gate installer to come and take the gate out the way first thing, but not sure if I can get them to do work without being billed for it myself?
Thanks for any advice as never had to Handle car to property damage claim. My home insurance, their car insurance, claim handler?

A claims management company won't be interested in your claim as there is no way they can generate any money for themselves.
Your options are claim on your own Home Insurance or claim directly from the other Insurer.
You can obtain the contact details and policy number of the driver for a small fee here www.askmid.com

Accident management co. is a non starter, unless you are thinking of hiring in a new gate on credit hire whilst your gate is being repaired.

Long ago in an insurance company far away there used to something called an Immobile Property Sharing Agreement between insurers. It may be long gone like knock for knock and its ilk. If my memory serves me correctly that agreement meant the house insurers contributed around a third under their impact peril whilst the car insurer picked up the rest.
Long time ago may well be irrelevant now.

This has just happened to me a car has taken all my railings and pot plants out plus edging stones and a gas pipe. I've sorted the gas out and cleared the debris but really don't know what to do now. A bummer because I'm off working abroad on Monday up to Christmas. Currently on the line to the insurer (on hold) of the person that caused the accident but she hit another car which was the one that hit my house. I have no details for that driver. How do I sort this out?

You probably won't get anything for the plants. My experience with insurers anyway.
Good luck with the rest!

With home insurance, plants in the ground are unlikely to be covered as they often don't fall within the definition of buildings or contents. My experience with insurers anyway.

Plants in pots are usually considered contents. Plants in pots which are kept outside will be considered under a section called 'contents in the open' or similar.
