A quick question. Do Private Hore Vehicles have any sort of "marker" against hem with the DVLA? A bit of a discussion going on lacally as to why Private Hire stuff can't use Bus Lanes but Black Cab types can. My thinking is that they can't be differentiated from ordinary private cars from the DVLA database.

I think that's a different kind of fake taxi.

But yes, I would assume it's an inability to differentiate them using ANPR.

Nothing to do with the DVLA. As to why PHVs are excluded, see the Traffic Management Act 2004 Schedule 7 Part 2 Section 6(2)(b) - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2004/18/schedu...
The 'other classes of vehicle' referred to will be defined in the relevant bus lane Order.

The discussion about PHVs v Hackney Carriages is nothing new - http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?...
It even got as far as the CJEU in Luxembourg - http://taxileaks.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/barring-pr...
