Hello everybody,

I have been driving on my EU license for a long time in UK for more than 10 years. However 7 years ago I did go through a red light and have been sent to court, they have told me to pay something like £300 fine and than few months after I got caught talking over the phone and they have issued me fix penalty which I have paid and again sent to court and paid another £300 fine. Now after 7 years on I am thinking to exchange my EU license for UK one. Do you think that those points on the ghost driving which I have accumulated 7 years ago will be transferred to the my new UK license? or its the same situation as the UK one, these getting wiped after certain period of time.
Since than I have been stopped by police many times but nobody have ever mentioned anything to me. Do you think is a good idea if I call DVLA before exchange license?

Thank you in advance, any advise will be much appreciated!

Even for a Saturday evening, that's a piss poor attempt at trolling.

Same situation as UK licence - because, basically, that's what it is. Three years for totting-up, no record after four.

A Driving licence & a Driver's record aren't the same thing.

Anyway Dana if you are not trolling, you basically drove 7 years without a licence. If you exchange it now it will be clean tho..

Umm, no.

A non-UK EU licence is valid for a UK resident until the age of 70 or expiry of the licence, whichever comes first. Obviously, the address on it still needs to be a valid contact address.

Weird post. Not sure if monumentally stupid or troll.

If you have the luxury of driving in the UK and not getting points..... why the hell would you give that up for a UK license where you could earn yourself a totting up ban? Why not just keep driving on an EU license and have no risk of points/totting up ban?

Why the 'troll' comments? Could be perfectly legit as far as I can see

Change of employment ? Employer / insurer asking for licence details?

Anyhow, as it's been moved to sp&l, I don't think the op can reply as a new member?

You do and can.

As the OP says, DVLA create a shadow record, which gives you the points. Get to 12, you're banned from driving in the UK just as if you were on a UK licence. Get nicked for driving while banned, and the same world of hurt applies.

The biggest difference is that you won't get an FPN or tea-and-biccies, just straight to court.

UK ban on UK licence means you can't drive anywhere. UK ban on other EU licence means you can still drive everywhere else
