Single yellow line with two types of restriction
Discussion
I'm bangs to right on a parking ticket (decided on a whim to work from home and forgot that I'd parked somewhere with restrictions) but I am going to see if I can wiggle out of it anyway, due to an unspecified sob story I haven't come up with yet.
There's one single yellow line but it has two different no waiting restrictions depending on which part of it you're on (i.e. one is Monday-Friday 2pm-3pm, the other is Monday-Saturday 8:30am-6pm). I was actually parked next to the sign that has both these two restrictions on it, therefore half the car subject to one restriction and the other half subject to the other in a sense.
Anyway, I've not seen 'differing' restrictions on one yellow line with no demarcation before on the carriageway (and looking at 'Know your traffic signs' there is always a demarcation on the carriageway when 'no waiting' is concerned as opposed to no loading, I think) so am wondering if it's non standard and if this is a useful line of appeal - does anyone know?
I haven't got the ticket on me to check if I was booked between 2-3pm or at some other time, but is that likely to make a difference?

Considering I got done for one wheel being in a permit holders bay and one being in a single yellow and keep clear box I think it's pretty likely they'll just say if more than two inches of your car is inside a restriction then it counts There's one single yellow line but it has two different no waiting restrictions depending on which part of it you're on (i.e. one is Monday-Friday 2pm-3pm, the other is Monday-Saturday 8:30am-6pm). It's very common for there to be differing restriction times on the same line. As well as the plates there should be a cross bar on the yellow line denoting the specific point on the carriagway where the change occurs. Like this example - https://goo.gl/maps/GRq5kD3PN3A2

Yes, it's the lack of cross bar that I was wondering whether invalidated it - there definitely isn't one.Having now checked the ticket, it was issued at time I was violating both restrictions so it's going to be pretty cheeky to challenge it. But I still will because nothing to lose, and it's amsuing to me

Tomorrow's my last day to do this before the discount (lol) runs out and so far it's looking like I'm far too lazy to bother writing a proper "defence" just for the sake of £25, so what I'm going to submit is this:

The single yellow line doesn't (and didn't) have a cross bar on it to delineate where the two restrictions change from one to the other, which it's supposed to have according to the signing regs, so I figured that [insert joke here]
Any suggestions on the [insert joke here]? I figure you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Forums | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
