Certainly is a strange case. From what I gather, it was known almost immediately that the only vehicle to leave the dead end he was seen walking into was the bin wagon. Why wasn't the landfill search done inmediately? Surely going to be hard, if not impossible, to find where that one wagon dropped its load at the landfill over 4 months ago.
I read early on that they discounted the landfill site due to the weight of the lorry. Must have a weigh bridge or something at the landfill and the Police said something like it could not have contained a body, or maybe the bin lorry weighed the bins. Anyway, I thought it seemed strange how they could be so certain. They have now arrested someone for perverting the course of justice and pointed out is is not the lorry driver, which seems strange.

So what can our amateur sleuthing guess happened then?
Maybe the bin lorry ran over and killed the victim when he was in the loading bay area possibly drunk and asleep? The lad who has now been arrested was in control of dispatching vehicles. Maybe the bin lorry came back and the lad tampers with the record of the weight of the lorry when it arrives at the landfill allowing the driver of the bin lorry to dump the body there?

My thoughts are. He had driven into town so wanted to sleep off the booze before driving back to camp. He either climbed into the cardboard bin to sleep or was maybe near the bins. Bin lorry came, crunch crunch crunch. Someone lied about weights. That has been my thought since the start and I cannot believe the Police have never searched the landfill despite the phone records showing that his phone went there.

The lorry apparently weighs each bin. The figures given are for the individual bin(nett), not the lorry. It's a very sad situation - really feel for the family - they've been saying, almost from the moment that the bin lorry was pinpointed - 'search the site!'.
I guess the police took the numbers (an extra 15kg) as absolute writ and decided against looking - even though it appears that having discounted all other options - it was the only logical thing to do. Great pity and I hope that they find him to put him to rest.

Sorry, but to me it smacks of utter incompetence of the investigating force.
On CCTV, Corrie went into an area which was impossible to exit from without being seen. The bin lorry was the only other thing seen going in. His phone was then tracked via the exact route of the bin lorry to the tip.

k did the Police not then search the tip immediately? Answer: Because someone at the waste company didn't know the difference between 'Number of bins' and 'Number of kilos'. Bin lorry did 11 collections, not 11 kilos. Did anyone check the weighbridge records? Apparently not until too late.

Living in the area that he did, there are still signs up everywhere looking for him. Really a tragic case but as others have pointed out, some real oddities in the investigation. How the hell anyone mistakes 11kg for 110kg or whatever it was, I do not know.
What I do know, is that if he is found at the waste site the locals will be very upset as a large number were convinced he must have been kidnapped by local travellers.
