Royal mail tracking website showing incorrect information!
Discussion
Last Wednesday I posted a parcel (an ebay sale) to an address in London.
I checked to see where it was on Thursday and noted that it had been received and signed for.
On Friday I received a message from ebay saying that there had been a problem with the sale and not to reply to any messages from the buyer. The sale has been cancelled and I cant access the original listing.
On calling ebay to ensure that the payment which I had received would not be returned to the buyer I found that the item was now showing as still in transit, which was not the status the previous day.
The ebay rep suggested that I call the post office to stop delivery and also report it to the police.
I called the post office who confirmed that the item had been delivered the previous day and that even if it had not been delivered they cannot stop an item in transit.
After the call I emailed royal mail to try to get the public website updated to show the correct status, however after again confirming that the item was delivered they have so far failed to correct the information, I suggested that their website may well have been compromised but they did not reply to that comment.
I think that the buyer may soon try to claim that they have not received the item and claim a refund.
Has anyone else had a similar situation with the royal mail tracking site?

On this occasion I didnt use the ebay postal payment system, I usually do but not for tracking as that means a trip to a post office and I can pay for the service from my workplace.
So I put the tracking number into the delivery information. It can then be clicked directly from ebay or by putting the number into the royal mail tracking page.
Royal mail have responded again but the problem still has not been corrected.
