Anything wrong with the 30mph section of this road?

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.9277591,-1.57070...

It has the 2 entry signs although are they too small? Also the repeaters are only sporadic and don't seem to follow a set distance.

I seem to remember repeater signs no longer need to be a set distance apart, anyone know which law states this?

Thanks

This one luckily is not for me but a family member. They were caught with a laser being operated inside a police vehicle through the passenger window, police vehicle then pulled out after them and stopped them, reported for offence as speed to high to be dealt with by fixed penalty.

As far as I can see the legislation is now quiet about repeater signs in 30 mph limits. The first link explains all. The rest I've posted because I had a quiet lunch to do a bit of research.

TSRGD 2016 gives the relevant authority discretion whether to have repeater signs.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/councils-get-ne...

AFAIK the Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 3 has not been updated/rewritten, so where repeaters are provided the following still applies.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploa... - table 14.4 on Page 117
It only prescribes maximum distances between signs, not whether there has to be more than one.

What a helpful, and drearily predictable response.

I see your point, but it could be relevant. Would an argument for inadequate signage of the 30mph limit not be weakened if you are travelling faster than the limit you have just left (40mph in this case) or possibly the limit that would apply in the absence of a signposted limit (60mph)?

Was the speed also recorded in some other way?

Why would a policeman need to form a view? There is a laser with a speed measurement on it.

Have the rules changed on where a laser device can be operated? IIRC inside a vehicle was against the 'rules'?

Used through a window the reading would not be admissible.

That may depend on whether the window was open or closed at the time.

Indeed, I stupidly thought that the reason he mentioned using the device through the window was that the window was closed. It could have just been a pointless comment so my bad for not asking was the window open or closed.

We simply put the window down. They won't work through glass, well they can get readings still but only at a very short range and they're not approved to be used through glass.
