E Bay Question
Discussion
Bought a used bumper for Wife's car, but Son used his E bay account and it was sent to wrong address (his Grandmothers) before he realised the mistake. Contacted the seller to inform him, but he had already posted it, so our plan was to then get her to post it to ourselves. Unfortunately it was delivered damaged (packaging ripped and torn, resulting in several 3 to 4 inch scratches and the Parcelforce lady advised his Grandmother to refuse it, she then took photo's of the damage using her phone. I informed the seller about the damage and refusing delivery via an E mail (yesterday) but have had no response. Not sure what happens now though. Will Parcelforce return to seller and compensate him for the damage, or will he have to pay for the return post? How long should we wait to hear from seller? We haven't done anything on E bay yet as waiting to hear what happens next.
Did you send the email as a message through the ebay system? Seller might not respond unless you do, as ebay will use against him ( and you) the fact that messages were not " official". I would message seller through ebay, if you have not already done so. If he does not respond to that ebay will take it up with him and refund you. allow him a decent interval to refund,
Still want the bumper though. If my Son hadn't cocked up the delivery we would of accepted the damaged goods as it has to be sprayed anyway. My initial thought was the seller might think his Grandmother refused delivery on purpose due to posting to wrong address, this was not the case. She thought it was a new part that had been damaged and took the advice of the delivery lady. How will it work with seller if we ask him to send it again to us, will he expect us to pay for postage again? There are plenty of bumpers on E bay so would it be easier to get a refund due to the part being damaged on delivery and order another? Hopefully he would be compensated by Parcelforce, he could then re list it.
Sorry, edited to say, I E-mailed him via his personal address and not E bay.

A seller should only sell to the registered address of the ebay/ paypal account. email the seller through the ebay system, and explain that you are still prepared to accept the bumper. I suspect you will have to pay postage again. If you are upfront with the seller he should be happy to repost, it is better than having to re-list. As a seller I would insist that you message me through the ebay system, that way ebay will not charge me listing fees for an item that did not sell. Without that message, he has no recourse should you not want the bumper.
