Do trevelo cameras require both infrared and sensors to trigger camera?

Was apporaching front facing camera a bit quick (slap on wrist) but slowed to speed limit well before triple lines on tarmac.

Cheers

To detect speed, Truvelo Combi cameras use piezo sensors embedded in the road surface, just short of the 3 timing lines.

In front facing mode, they are required to have a magenta coloured filter over the flash. There is no infra-red.

Truvello can ( from what I've read and seen on the road) be used in either forward facing mode ,using three detectors buried in road ( white line few yards before camera shows position) , or as rear mode using the "dragons tooth" road markings as used by Gatso etc. I suspect that as they are wet film cameras they've gone out of favour as there's a limit on the film and from what I see locally are being replaced by digital ones . Again, less cost as photos are ( from what I read) sent direct from camera.

OP, if it flashed you, you would have known about it. They really are that bright.

Local ones near me can be set up to use the sensors on either carriageway. So, can be rear facing or forward facing. Sneaky bds. As you accelerate away from the forward facing camera the one on the other carriageway takes a rear snapshot.
