I wonder if unmarked cars will always stop you if you have done wrong-- or might you get mail/points/charges later???

Driving home in evening et the edge of town - had white skoda estate rel close (too close for comfort) sitting behind me and a sleeper (van going 35ish) in front of me- I felt they were a bit too close (or him think only one in there but have a small rear view mirror and need to keep eyes on road so not sure.....)

hence overtook the sleeper- close to end of town perhaps a bit in the town zone and then made constant 65ish...

Skoda immediately overtakes the sleeper and follows in reasonable distance for 3 miles - when they overtook the van i thought...hrrmpf....

then we were coming to a roadworks on the road - speed limit- me off the throttle- they fall back a lot- orange leds and stop at side - no blue leds - no stop sign- nobody getting out of car -s o thought this is not meat for me and continued..... they did not follow further

so I continued home- nothing happened - need to worry????

A police vehicle is highly unlikely to have orange lights unless it's a speed camera van imho.

Not Police IMO

What speed limit was it when you overtook the van?

Where were the orange LEDs?
Roof? Grill?

Sounds like a highways vehicle.

Yep, highways vehicle.

The thing with them is, at night, from the front, the light bar looks like Plod, and any reflectives (from a distance and from behind) also make people think you're BiB.

This then means people drive really slowly in front of you, are reluctant to go past you on DCs, and when you park outside your house, your thicker neighbours will knock on the door and ask if everything is OK.

Ask me how I know rofl

saw a more unusual (I think..) one today in Watford
'63 plate black Volvo S60, no overt blues, but deep in grill

No way would I have spotted it under 'normal' driving, but as it was parked across the road, with blue lights on, and a PC all in black getting out it was hard to miss !
